titleOfInvention An improved dissolution method and apparatus
abstract A dissolution apparatus (10) for continuously forming a feed solution such as a ferrous sulphate solution for use in a water treatment plant has a primary container (50) to receive solid material for forming a high concentration solution with a solvent. The apparatus (10) also includes a secondary dilution container (54) to receive solvent or a second solution of the material and solvent of lower concentration than the high concentration solution. High concentration solution is transferred to the secondary container ( 54) and mixes with the solvent or lower concentration solution to form an intermediate concentration solution. Solution may be drawn along pipes (60, 62) in the direction "A" to a dosing region. Otherwise at least a portion of the intermediate concentration solution can be re-circulated to the primary container (50) via a re-circulation pipe (64). One or more mouths (52) of the re-circulation pipe (64) in the primary container ( 50) can be located beneath a hopper ( 51) from which hopper ( 51 ), fresh material is deposited into the primary container (50). The mouths (52) of the re-circulation pipe (64) can be orientated to change the direction of flow of solution out of the pipe (64) when required.
