abstract A device 10 for supporting a number of battens 11 such as ceiling or flooring joists, the device comprising a base plate 12 and at least two members 13A-13D upstanding from the base plate 12. The upstanding members 13A-13D are spaced apart to define a number of gaps such that a number of battens can be located through the gaps and wherein the upstanding members are located in an angular manner in relation to each side of each batten. The device 10 can be formed of a polyurethane foam material having a flexible cellular and predominantly open celled structure which exhibits acoustic isolation properties.
