titleOfInvention A method of producing a photographic image
abstract A method of producing a photographic image in an imagewise exposed photographic material which comprises one or more silver halide emulsion layers comprises
```applying to the material in an imagewise manner a developer solution containing a silver halide developing agent wherein the amount of solution applied depends on the image density to be produced,
```removing unreacted developing agent from the material or inactivating unreacted developing agent in the material by means other than immersion of the material in a liquid in a tank. The removal or unreacted developer can be achieved by releasably laminating the material with a receiver sheet which contains an absorbent for the developing agent in oxidised or unoxidised form. The absorbent can be carbon. Development can be accompanied by an amplification step (REDOX amplification). Removal or unreacted developing agent or inactivating unreacted developing agent can also be achieved by applying to the surface of the developed material, a solution or a sulphite compound (that reacts with the oxidised developing agent) and a solution or an oxidant that oxidises any remaining developing agent, also by means other than immersion in a tank.
