The invention relates to novel S-nitrosothiols derived from penicillamine or glutathione of general formula (I), wherein A and B are phenyl groups or together represent a -CH<SB>2</SB>-Q-CH<SB>2</SB>- radical forming a six-membered ring in which Q represents an oxygen or sulfur atom or an N-R<SP>3</SP> radical, wherein R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen or an C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>4</SB> alkyl group; R<SP>1</SP> is an acyl radical which may be a C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>5</SB> aliphatic acyl radical or a glutamic acid radical bonded by its non-amino acid carboxyl; R<SP>2</SP> is a hydroxyl group or a glycine radical bonded by peptide linkage in such a way that R<SP>2</SP> is an hydroxyl group when R<SP>1</SP> is an aliphatic acyl radical and R<SP>2</SP> is a glycine radical when R<SP>1</SP> is a glutamic acid radical. Said novel compounds exhibit vasodilating and blood platelet aggregation inhibiting activity and are useful in the treatment of circulatory system dysfunctions, especially cardiovascular dysfunctions. |
