A method for identifying a compound that modulates cysteinyl leukotriene-like receptors comprises contacting a polypeptide designated GPR17 SEQ ID. No. 2, or a variant thereof which can bind LTC<SB>4</SB> LTD<SB>4</SB>, LTE<SB>4</SB>, LTF<SB>4</SB> with a test compound and determining whether cysteinyl leukotriene-like receptor activity is altered. cysteinyl leukotriene-like receptor assays can be conducted using mammalian cells, ie HEK293, CHO, or COS7 cells, xenopus oocytes or yeast cells. The use of compound identifiable by the assay in pharmaceutical preparations is referred to. |
