titleOfInvention A delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase promoter from Arabidopsis thaliana
abstract A nucleic acid comprising a delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase (P5CS) promoter, SEQ ID NO: 1, is claimed. Also claimed are fragments corresponding to nucleotides - 1064 to +70 of Figs. 2 and 3 or preferably other such fragments. The promoter is isolated from Arabidopsis thaliana. Also claimed are vectors with the promoter linked to a gene, including those expressing genes for resistance to environmental stress, preferably P5CS or P5CR and transgenic plants.
