abstract The invention relates to the enantiomeric mixtures of compounds of Formula I, which are useful precursors in the synthesis of phosphodiesterase IV inhibitors. The mixtures may be prepared by forming a salt of the compound of formula I with (1S)-(+)-3-bromocamphor-10-sulphonic acid or (1R)-(-)-3-bromocamphor-10-sulphonic acid. The enantiomeric compound I may be liberated from its salt by treating the salt with a base.
