abstract | A process for producing a benzylamine salt of the formula (1): wherein, R is hydrogen, halogen atom, trifluoromethyl group or lower alkyl group; and M is a counter-ion of the benzylammonium ion having a valency of n; comprising the step of hydrolysing a quaternary ammonium salt obtained by reacting benzyl bromide of the formula (2) wherein, R is hydrogen, halogen atom, trifluoromethyl group or lower alkyl group; with hexamethylenetetramine in an alcohol/water mixed solvent is provided. Crystals of above compounds of formula (1) having a short axis length of 10-30 mm and long axis length of 20-150 mm and a purity of 99% are also claimed. |
