In a toilet seat adapted to extract odours from a toilet bowl, the hinge region incorporates an aperture through which odours from the bowl can pass, the aperture being fitted with or encompassing closure means and the interaction between the various elements being such that the aperture is open when the seat is lowered and is closed when the seat is raised. |
