titleOfInvention | Surface derivatization of aliphatic polyketones |
abstract | Aliphatic polyketones prepared from carbon monoxide and at last one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon are surface derivatized to improve their properties e.g. tribological, paintability and conductivity properties. The surface of the polyketone is silylated by treatment with an aminosilane, or by reduction of the carbonyl groups at the surface followed by silylation using a halogenated silane or alkoxy silane. Alternatively, the surface of the polyketone is derivatized with an inorganic oxide or hydrous oxide or a combination thereof by reacting the polyketone with an inorganic alkyl, inorganic aryl, inorganic hydride, inorganic alkyl hydride or inorganic aryl hydride, or a combination thereof. The surface may then be silylated. |
