abstract | An image magenta-forming coupler of formula (I):- * space * wherein X is H or a coupling-off group, R is H; or R, R 1 and R 2 are the same or different and are coupler-modifying functional groups; or R 1 and R 2 taken together with the nitrogen atom and the carbonyl group form a 5-10 membered heterocyclic ring which may contain one or more further heteroatoms selected from N, O and S, said heterocyclic ring being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more coupler-modifying functional groups, either with or without another main image dye-forming coupler,is used to provide an image of enhanced stability to exposure to light. The couplers (I) are novel compounds provided that (a) the moiety N(R 1 )COR 2 is not a carbamate,ureide or imide and (6) R 1 and R 2 are not both phenyl or substituted phenyl. |
