abstract A weapon has a launching apparatus 11 and a missile 1 having a warhead 19 and a seeker head 2 e.g. radar or IR, rigidly connected to the missile. The head measures deviation angles from the target and electronics (29 Figure 2) control the guide vanes 24 via the steering mechanism 27. Formulae are given for converting the measured angles into a fixed co-ordinate system to generate signals for the guiding system; these are also given in EP 0653600 A.
