abstract |
A molded article comprises a fluorine-containing resin comprising substantially no ion-exchange groups and on its surface an antistatic layer of fluorine-containing resin comprising ion-exchange groups and having a surface resistivity not larger than 10 13 * capital Greek omega *. The article is suitable for use in the manufacture of semi-conductors for example as a carrier for semi-conductor wafers. The article may be made by (a) conversion of the groups in a surface layer of an article of a fluorine-containing resin (1) containing groups that can be converted into ion-exchange groups; (b) melt adhering a layer of a fluorine-containing resin (1) on to the surface of an article made from a fluorine-containing resin (2) free from groups that can be converted into ion-exchange groups and converting the groups in the layer of resin (1); or (c) coextrusion of a fluorine-containing resin (1) and a fluorine-containing resin (2) to form multiple layers and converting the groups in the layer(s) of fluorine-containing resin (1). |
