abstract |
A mixed oxide having an oxygen-rich orthorhombic structure which transforms as a function of temperature into a low-oxygen tetragonal structure, eg a perovskite of formula YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x where 0 * contained as subset; superset; equals * x * contained as subset; superset; equals * 1, is used for the adsorption of nitrogen oxides from waste gases such as the exhaust gases from an i.c. engine. The adsorbent may be regenerated by desorption of the adsorbel nitrogen oxides. |
