abstract New 1-[2-(substituted vinyl)]-3,4-dihidro-5 H -2,3-benzodiazepine derivatives correspond to the general formula (I), wherein R represents hydrogen or C 1-4 alkanoyl, R 1 stands for phenyl optionally carrying 1-3 identical or different substituent(s) selected from halogen, nitro, amino, C 1-4 alkylamino, di(C 1-4 alkyl)-amino, C 1-4 alkanoylamino, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, methylenedioxy and hydroxy; or naphthyl optionally carrying a substituent selected hydroxy, C 1-4 alkyl and C 1-4 alkoxy; R 2 stands for hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl; R 3 and R 4 are independently C 1-4 alkyl, or R 3 and R 4 together form methylene. The new compounds affect the central nervous system and can be used to advantage in the therapy.
