A moulding composition incorporates fibre in the form of fibrous organic material, such as straw or other plant material and plastics material which is compatible with the composition of the organic material, such as a polymer plastics material. The fibrous organic material is dried to a low moisture content and the organic material is reduced in size to eg less than about 8 mm in its maximum dimension before mixing with the plastics. The mixture is heated to a temperature at which the plastics becomes fluid and then cooled to yield the moulding composition, e.g. in the form of pellets. |
