titleOfInvention Process of producing metal compounds
abstract Metallic salts are made by treating a metal, metal oxide, carbonate or soluble metal salt with hydrofluosilicic acid, or hydrofluoboric acid and converting the resulting salt into the desired salt by reaction with another salt, the complex fluorine salt remaining being reconverted into the corresponding acid by treatment with an acid such as sulphuric acid. Zinc oxide may be treated with hydrofluosilicic acid and the silicofluoride then treated with sodium chloride to obtain zinc chloride and sodium silicofluoride. The sodium silicofluoride is treated with sulphuric acid to regenerate hydrofluosilicic acid, or it may be heated to obtain sodium fluoride and silicon fluoride. The sodium fluoride is converted into sodium carbonate, hydrate, sulphide, sulphite, or nitrate by treatment with a reagent such as calcium carbonate or other calcium salt and the resulting calcium fluoride is treated with the silicon fluoride and an acid to obtain hydrofluosilicic acid. Alternatively the sodium silicofluoride may be treated with the calcium compound to obtain the sodium carbonate &c. direct, the calcium silicofluoride being then treated to obtain hydrofluosilicic acid. In an example zinc chloride is treated with hydrofluosilicic acid and sodium chloride, the products being sodium silicofluoride and zinc chloride; lead oxide is treated with hydrofluosilicic acid, the lead silicofluoride being then treated with arsenic acid to obtain lead arsenate and hydrofluosilicic acid; and zinc oxide is treated with boron fluoride and hydrofluoboric acid or with boron oxide, fluorspar and an acid to obtain zinc borofluoride. Specification 219,971 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the use of complex fluorine acids other than hydrofluosilicic and hydrofluoboric acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Metallic salts are made by treating a metal, metal oxide, carbonate or soluble metal salt with hydrofluosilic acid or hydrofluoboric acid and converting the resulting salt into the desired salt by reaction with another salt, the complex fluorine salt remaining being re-converted into the corresponding acid by treatment with an acid such as sulphuric acid.
