abstract Using a treating solution which is easy to dispose of after use, the surface of a plastics material is treated so that the treated surface adheres to a coating film to be formed thereon. An aqueous dispersion containing an abrasive which is harder than the plastics material to be surface-treated, is pressurized to about 1.0-200 kg/cm<2> and then is injected onto the surface 22 of the plastics material through an injection nozzle 16. An airless spray gun 18 having said injection nozzle is supported by a polyaxis type or articulated type robot 20. The surface of the plastics material is ground and converted into a rough surface so that coating may be applied thereon. <IMAGE>
