abstract A rotary I.C. engine, or a compressor, pump or external combustion vapour engine, has a substantially triangular cylinder block 1 provided with an oval rotor 2 containing roller assemblies 2A, 2B cooperating with cam wheels 34 mounted on a crankshaft 33. Moreover, the latter has its crank portion (32, Figs. 5 & 6) cooperating with a slideway (211) formed in the rotor. In use, the rotor rotates and reciprocates with the cylinder so as to nest, in turn, against each of the three side walls of the cylinder and simultaneously move away from the other two side walls, whereby three strokes per cycle are performed. In the engine shown each wall has an inlet port 11, an exhaust port 12 and an oil injector or ignition plug 13. Lubrication means comprise internal channels (331, Fig. 3) and a spiral passage (3111) in the crankshaft. In larger engines, the roller assemblies and cam wheels have cooperating gear teeth (2121, Fig. 22) and a screw lubricant pump (218, Figs. 22 & 23) is designed into each roller assembly. <IMAGE>
