titleOfInvention Removal of base metals from gold-barren cyanide solutions
abstract A process for substantially removing base metals from gold-barren cyanide solutions resulting from leaching gold ore and then removing the gold comprises contacting said leachate with a suitably conditioned strong base anion exchange resin for a sufficient time to remove said base metals eg Cu, Fe, Zn followed by separation of said leachate from said resin. The anion exchange resin may be conditioned by treatment with a mineral acid or a cyanide solution, eg NaCN, or a metal cyano complex eg Cu(CN)4<2->.
