titleOfInvention Process for the production of metal oxide aerosols
abstract A process for producing a metal-oxide aerosol comprises vaporizing the elemental metal eg Ca or Mg in an oxidant free environment under controlled conditions and thereafter oxidizing said vaporized metal under controlled conditions to form an aerosol of said metal-oxide in a carrier gas stream. The aerosol may thereafter be fed to an effluent-containing gaseous stream for removal of effluents by sorption under controlled temperature conditions. Acid gas such as SO2, SO3, NO, NO2, H2S and HCl may be removed from off gases using the aerosol sorbent.
