abstract |
A method for diagnosing and quantitating the mass of an individual fibrillar amyloid protein in a non-invasive manner is disclosed. This involves the use of a radiolabelled amyloidogenic protein (especially beta-2-microglobulin) or naturally occurring variant with immunological cross reactivity thereof or naturally or synthetically derived molecule thereof. The radiolabelled product specifically binds to the structurally derived fibrillar amyloid deposited protein or is incorporated therein, thereby permitting diagnosis and treatment. |
