abstract Sulphoxide-containing organosilicon compounds are prepared by reacting together (1) an organosilicon compound which is either a silane or an organosiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded substituent QSR' wherein Q represents an alkylene group having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms or a phenylene group and R' represents a moiety which is not affected by oxidation consisting of C, H and optionally O, and (2) sodium meta periodate preferably supplied as an aqueous solution. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst.
