abstract | Oxolinic acid (1 mole) or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof is mixed with a condensed phosphate of an alkali- metal (e.g. Na, K or Li) (suitably 0.2-300 moles) and when the free acid is used it may also be mixed with at least one of an oxide, hydroxide, carbonate or tribasic phosphate of an alkali metal and aqueous ammonia. Tolclofos-methyl may be added, suitably in an amount of 0.05-20 parts by wt. per part by wt of free oxolinic acid. The resultant pesticidal composition may be mixed with carriers, surfactants or other adjuvants to make powders, dusts, granules or aqueous solutions. The compositions are effective to prevent or cure various bacterial diseases e.g. Pseudomonas glumae of rice or Erwinia atroseptica of potato, and also fungal diseases when tolclofos-methyl is included, by application to the leaves, seeds or soil. Aqueous solutions thereof have good stability. |
