titleOfInvention | NAD-dependent D-xylose dehydrogenases, production and use thereof in pentose determinations |
abstract | An enzyme having NAD-dependent D-xylose dehydrogenase activity characterised in that it has a pH optimum of about 8.8 in 0.1 M Tris-HCl buffer is disclosed; more particularly, one such enzyme is obtainable from E.coli K12 and has Km's in respect of D-xylose and NAD of 15.7mM and 0.6mM, respectively, and another is obtainable from Chromobacterium violaceum and has Km's in respect of D-xylose and NAD of 10.5mM and 0.4mM, respectively. The production and use thereof in pentose determination is also disclosed. |
