A method of making a fibre-reinforced moulded racquet frame comprises weaving at least one layer of braided reinforcing fibres around an extruded polyethylene foam core member to form a fibre-reinforced core. The core is placed in a mould having a cavity shaped to define the frame, and a methacrylate based resin, which has a relatively low setting temperature and viscosity, is injected into the mould around the core. Because of its low viscosity, the resin readily impregnates the fibres of the core, and produces a racquet frame requiring little or no surface finishing. |
