titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the treatment of waters |
abstract | Water may be treated with blocks of alkali metal aluminate, for example sodium aluminate, produced by the crystallisation of a concentrated aluminate liquor by a process in which the concentration is stopped short of the point at which spontaneous crystallisation occurs (wherein its boiling temperature preferably is less than 135 DEG C) and the liquor is cooled, for example to 112 DEG C, and is seeded with aluminate particles, to cause crystallisation, and solidification. The blocks so produced are of uniform consistency, have good handling properties and can provide consistent pH control for acidic waste waters. |
