| abstract | Transactions related to a plurality of parcel carriers are recorded in a single logging file. The file has a pair of counters for each carrier, with the first counter storing the total number of transactions recorded for that carrier and the second counter storing the number of closed transaction records for that carrier. The programs enable the archiving of the records (Figures 2, 3), and updating the records (Figure 4) of the file. A closed transaction corresponds to a parcel which has been shipped, an open transaction corresponding to a parcel assigned to a carrier, but not yet picked up for shipment, the total corresponding to the sum of the two. Thus many carriers may be catered for on a single logging file (Figure 5), although larger carriers may have dedicated files, (UPS, US PS Figure 5). <IMAGE> |
