titleOfInvention Apparatus for the electrical stimulation of nerves
abstract A circuit, for use in apparatus for stimulating the auditory nerve in the vicinity of the cochlear of deaf persons to give a sensation indicative of the pitch of speech, is described for determining the period of speech sounds. After passing through a low pass filter 14, signals from a microphone 12 are amplified by a logarithmic amplifier 15. Two peak detectors 16 and 21, coupled by a differentiating circuit 20, are then used to derive a signal applied to a comparator 22 whose outputs in the form of pulses having the required period. <IMAGE>
