This invention relates to novel nucleoside derivatives of the formula (I> <IMAGE> and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof, wherein R and R<1> are the same or different and stand for hydrogen or an optionally substituted acyl, optionally substituted cycloalkanoyl, optionally substituted aroyl or optionally substituted hetereoaroyl. Furthermore the invention relates to antiviral pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds, their use as antiviral agents and methods for the preparation of the compounds of the formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition salts. R and/or R<1> may also be a blocking group, e.g. (4-methyoxytriphenylmethyl)methyl. |
