titleOfInvention A Method of Determining the Oxidizing Activity of a Biological Liquid, and a Mammalian Lens- derived Reagent for use in the Method
abstract A reagent based on homogenized mammal lenses which have been dialysed and optionally freeze-dried for preservation is used for exact, reproducible measurement of the oxidizing activity of a biological liquid more particularly serum. A known method is used to test two samples of the biological liquid treated with the reagent, one sample having been incubated at from 10 DEG C to 40 DEG C for 20 to 4 hours and the other sample not having been incubated, the oxidising activity of the liquid being determined from the difference in the two test results. A reduction in oxidizing activity following administration of a drug for treatment of cataract indicates that the drug is effective.
