abstract A rod (14) is moved when liquid in vaporisation chamber (34) is vaporised by an electrical heating element (36) and causes member (22) to be displaced against the spring (20). The chamber (34) and a liquid filled space (38) surrounding sealing bellows (18) are linked by a narrow annular passage (30). The latter prevents friction between container (26) and member (22) and prevents rapid heat transfer between the chamber and space thereby preventing rapid movement when cold liquid from the space (38) causes sudden condensation of vapor in chamber (34). <IMAGE>
