abstract | Compounds of the formula:- <IMAGE> wherein R is (Hal)m wherein Hal represents a halogen atom and m is 1 or 2, or R is (B<1>)n1W<1> wherein B<1>, n<1> and W<1> are as defined below; W and (when present) W<1>, which may be the same or different, each represents a carboxyl, esterified carboxyl, amide, N-C1-4 alkyl-amide, N,N-di-(C1-4 alkyl)-amide, nitrile, aldehyde, amino, hydroxymethyl, or tetrazolyl group; n and (when present) n<1> which may be the same or different, are each 0 or 1; and A, B and (when present) B<1>, which may be the same or different, each represents a straight chain or branched C1-3 alkylene or C2-3 alkenylene group. These compounds have been found to possess potent and selective inhibitory activity against thromboxane synthetase which renders the compounds useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of thromboembolic disorders. |
