titleOfInvention | Removal of undesired substances from distilled beverages |
abstract | A process for the removal of an unwanted substance from a distilled beverage or spirit, comprises: causing the distilled beverage (constituting a primary liquid) and a secondary liquid to move through compartments (C, G) on opposite sides of a membrane (D) having a pore size sufficiently large to allow the unwanted substance to pass through it, the secondary liquid having a lower concentration of the unwanted substance than the distilled beverage, and the distilled beverage and the secondary liquid each contacting the respective side of the membrane; and passing the secondary liquid, after contact with the membrane, through a treatment zone (I) in which the unwanted substance is at least partially removed from it and thereafter returning the secondary liquid so as to recontact the membrane. <IMAGE> |
