titleOfInvention | Improved manufacture of indophenolic bodies |
abstract | The condensation of p-nitrosophenol or its homologues with bodies capable of yielding indophenols thereby is effected by allowing sulphuric acid solutions of the two components to run simultaneously into a reaction vessel at rates corresponding with their molecular content of reacting substances; the product is then immediately precipitated, preferably by allowing the solution to flow continuously from the reaction vessel to the precipitating vessel at the same rate as the solutions enter the former. The condensation of p-nitrosophenol with carbazole in sulphuric acid solution at -8 DEG C. is described. An apparatus is described consisting of two vessels of equal diameter communicating by pipes and stop-cocks with a smaller vessel fitted with stirring mechanism and an outflow pipe and stopcock. |
