titleOfInvention Process and apparatus for removing corrosive impurities from alcohol/water mixtures
abstract A process and apparatus for obtaining non-corrosive alcohol fuel by retaining corrosive agents such as sulphate or acetate or chloride ions in an alcohol/water residue orginating from conventional alcohol- manufacturing processes, the retention being brought about by neutralizing with an alkaline substance. The process according to the invention is carried out in a device 3, disposed between conventional distillation columns 1 and 2, in the form of a column 4 comprising a base 5 containing alkaline solution, packing 6 and a top region 7 from which the treated residue flows out and enters the second distillation column. <IMAGE>
