abstract | The present invention relates to new compounds of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein R<1> is amino or substituted amino, R<2> is carboxy or protected carboxy, R is hydroxymethyl, protected hydroxymethyl or formyl, R<1> is hydrogen and R'' is hydroxy, halogen or a group of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<4> is lower alkyl, or R<1> and R'' are linked together to form a group of the formula: = O or = P(R<5>)3 in which R<5> is; lower alkyl, aryl or di(lower) alkylamino, and Y is hydrogen or lower alkoxy, or a salt thereof. The compounds of the present invention are useful as intermediates in the preparation of 1-oxade- thia-3-cephem antimicrobials. |
