titleOfInvention | Insect-destroying preparation and devices |
abstract | An insect-destroying device comprises a planar member e.g. of cardboard coated on at least one side with a mixture formed from a powdered foodstuff, e.g. powdered milk, a scented attractant e.g. fruit scent, and material which is toxic to insects. Suitable toxic materials include commercially available pyrethrin-based and dichlorvos/ fenchlorphos-based insecticides. The planar member is conveniently held captive within a holder from which it can be slid or pivoted to expose the coated region for use. The device may be suspended or otherwise retained in a desired location in domestic, industrial or agricultural premises to be treated and will act effectively to attract and exterminate insects, particularly winged insects such as flies. |
