Cross-linked polyamides |
abstract |
A polymeric composition comprising (a) a polymeric component which is at least 80% by weight polyamide with at least 25% by weight monomer units of formula <IMAGE> p being 11 or 12, and (b) an unsaturated cross-linking agent (e.g. triallyl cyanurate or isocyanurate), is melt-shaped and irradiated (e.g. with a beam of high energy electrons) to obtain a cross-linked article. The polyamide may be Nylon-11 or Nylon- 12. The crosslinked products are particularly useful in the form of heat- recoverable shaped articles, e.g. heat shrinkable tubing. |
