abstract | A rechargeable electrochemical cell comprises a lithium-containing electrode and an electrolyte. The electrolyte comprises diethyl ether, a cosolvent, and a lithium salt. Diethyl ether and the cosolvent are present in proportional amounts greater than or equal to 70% and 5% by volume, respectively. The proportional amounts of diethyl ether and the cosolvent are selected to produce an increase in conductivity compared to that of pure diethyl ether which is proportionally equal to or greater than any decrease in cycling efficiency compared to pure diethyl ether. |
