titleOfInvention | A method of permanently waving hair |
abstract | A method of permanently waving hair involves the steps of applying a first alkaline mercaptan composition to initiate reduction of the disulphide linkages of the hair keratin, wrapping the thus-treated hair on a plurality of curlers, applying in at least two successive steps a second alkaline mercaptan composition further to soften the hair so that it conforms to the curlers, and water rinsing and neutralizing to permit reformation of the disulphide linkages in the hair keratin. The method of the invention provides permanent waving of natural hair on a human head in a much shorter time than conventional methods not involving the above sequence of steps. |
