titleOfInvention The production of organic mercury compounds
abstract The process of the parent Specification, which consists in mercurizing ketones of the formula R.CO.R1 in which R is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic or mixed aliphatic-aromatic radicle and R1 an aliphatic or mixed aliphatic-aromatic radicle, is extended to the mercurizing of the same compounds containing also within the molecule arsenic, antimony or iodine: the mercurizing is effected by heating either with mercurizing salts or by means of mercuric oxide in an alkaline solution. The products have therapeutical value. In examples p-acetophenone arsinic acid (see Specification 220,668) or antimonic acid dissolved in caustic soda solution is boiled with mercuric oxide. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers generally to the mercurizing of aliphatic-cyclic organic compounds, containing carbonyl groups not forming part of a ring, and containing also in the molecule "one or more chemico-therapeutical agents or groups of inorganic or organic nature" such as "naphthol sulphonic acids, the CH2NH2 group or the NHCH3 group." Examples are also given in which p-acetophenone-arsinic acid and "p-acetophenone-salicyclic acid" are heated with mercuric acetate. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. p-Acetophenoneantimonic acid is obtained by treating diazotized p-aminoacetophenone with an antimonite.
