titleOfInvention | Gas-fired water heater |
abstract | In a gas-fired balanced-flue water-storage heater, a transversely extending air baffle (56) depends from a water jacket skirt end wall (22) between a combustion-air chamber (44) and a burner chamber (24). Exhaust gases from a liquefied petroleum gas burner (26) enter an exhaust or heater chamber (32) and are discharged via an exhaust pipe (38) which passes through the combustion-air chamber (44). The latter receives combustion air from an inlet pipe (48) coaxial with exhaust pipe (38). A corrugated sheet metal baffle (34) in the exhaust chamber (32) rapidly heats up on ignition of the burner main flame to promote air flow by convection and avoid vitiation. The baffle assembly (53) mounted on a telescopic extension (38a) to the exhaust pipe (38) can be retracted into a sleeve (23) when the heater is not in use - an advantage when the heater is installed in a mobile home. <IMAGE> |
