abstract | Indolizine derivatives of the general formula: <IMAGE> (wherein R represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted phenyl group or a phenyl group having one or two substituents, which may be the same or different, selected from halogen atoms and alkyl and alkoxy groups, X represents hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, methyl or methoxy, A represents a group selected from: <IMAGE> in which X2 represents hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, methyl or methoxy and X3 represents hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine or methyl, R1 represents a methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or n-butyl group, and n represents 2 to 6, with the proviso that when X2 and X3 both represent hydrogen or methyl, X1 is other than hydrogen) and their acid addition salts may be used for treating pathological syndromes of the heart, e.g. angina pectoris and cardiac arrhythmias. |
