A dithered ring laser particularly adapted for use as a gyro comprises means for minimizing back-scatter from the laser mirrors (16) by servoing the mirrors inwards and outwards so that the sum of the AM amplitudes of the counterpropagating waves of the laser is reduced to a minimum value, then further servoing the mirrors to reduce the difference between such AM amplitudes. <IMAGE> |
