A chewable chewing gum base is provided which is substantially calorie-free, comprises a gum base containing inert fillers, such as calcium carbonate or talc in amounts of 50% to 85% by weight and 0.1 to 5% of non-caloric sweeteners, such as aspartame or cyclamates and includes at least about 10% air voids entrapped in the gum base matrix which, upon chewing, become filled with moisture. Also present may be softener e.g. lecithin. |
