Explosives.-Tetranitropentaerythrite is used in priming compositions for igniting propellant explosives, for example in the proportion of 5 to 10 per cent with 50 per cent of potassium chlorate, 25 to 23 per cent of lead sulphocyanide, and 20 to 17 per cent of antimony sulphide. In another example, lead sulphocyanide is replaced by mercury fulminate, and the proportions, except those of the tetranitropentaerythrite, are slightly varied. |
