titleOfInvention Paste of oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte
abstract The paste consists essentially of an organic liquid vehicle and fine particles of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte material, such as ZrO2, ThO2, Bl2O3 or CeO2 stabilized with CaO, Y2O3, Nb2O5 or La2O3, uniformly dispersed therein. The liquid vehicle is preferably composed of an organic binder (e.g. a cellulosic material), an organic solvent, a plasticizer and a surfactant so as to have an adequate viscosity, and the weight ratio of the liquid vehicle to the solid electrolyte particles is in the range from 0.25:1 to 2.5:1. This paste can be applied onto a substrate by the screen printing method, and then dried and fired to sinter the electrolyte particles. The layer so formed is useful in oxygen sensors and fuel cells.
