Glycoproteins, especially glycosylated hemoglobins, are separated from non-glycosylated proteins, by complexing with a dihydroxyboryl reactive agent which may be bonded to a polymaric matrix. The resulting complex can be separated physically from the non- glycosylated protein, making possible the determination of glycosylated hemoglobin content of lysed blood; a reactive agent and a kit are described for use in such determination and as a monitor in the control of diabetic treatment. The invention can also be used preparatively to isolate glycoproteins. |
