titleOfInvention | Base paper for dry-strippable wall coverings and process for its manufacture |
abstract | A base paper for a dry-strippable wall covering comprises two or three plies of which the ply to abut the wall contains from 50 to 90% by weight of fibrillated polyolefin fibers which are fused to one another. The base paper is manufactured by subjecting it to a heat treatment to cause the polyolefin fibers to fuse to one another, the heat treatment suitably being carried out at a temperature from the crystallite melting point to 80 DEG C above the crystallite melting point of the polyolefin without the application of pressure, or from a temperature of 20 DEG C to a temperature of 50 DEG C above the crystallite melting point of the polyolefin with the simultaneous application of pressure. Wall coverings manufactured from the base paper can be dry-stripped in their entirety from a wall surface without splitting or tearing. |
